Road Trip to the Archives

We are planning a trip to Ontario Archives at York University on Saturday, February 18, 2012. Check out the trip details if you are interested in going.

Next Meeting

We look forward to seeing you at our Monthly Meetings. To find out more about the next meeting See Events - Meetings for details..

Bill 126

Ontario's cemeteries provide a unique repository of our cultural heritage. Inactive cemeteries are at risk of closure in the face of ongoing development pressures and must be protected to ensure the historical record for future generations.

Simcoe County Branch supports the passage of Bill 126, an Act to Protect Ontario's Inactive Cemeteries, 2010.

New item for sale

Due to popular request, the Alliston Cemetery Transcription is now available for purchase on CD. See Publications - Cemeteries for more information.

Help Wanted

The Simcoe County Branch is looking for a few people to assist with some ongoing projects.

Cemetery Projects
We currently need volunteers to type up transcriptions as well as somebody to work on indexing. This is something you can do at home, at your own pace. For further information, please contact John Wright, Cemeteries Project Coordinator.

Vice Chair
The Simcoe County Branch executive meets once a month on the same day as the branch meetings. We need somebody who could attend to assist our Chair, Linda Mitchell, with her many duties and to take command if she’s away. This is excellent opportunity to meet a lot of genealogists and family historians.

Program Committee
We are in need of two people to help plan upcoming events as well as find interesting speakers for our meetings. No previous experience is necessary. The branch executive has lots of knowledgeable people who are more than willing to help you.

If you are interested in any of these positions, please contact our Branch Chair, Linda Mitchell.
