The branch publishes a quarterly newsletter called Simcoe County Ancestor News or SCAN.

SCAN is issued in February, May, August and November. It contains short articles, notices of new books and special events. It may also contain extracts from records and indexes. You might even find a relative you didn’t know you had through the “Queries” column.

If you are having problems locating an elusive ancestor or have hit your “Brick Wall” you can send in a query to SCAN and it will appear in the next edition. Membership entitles you to submit an unlimited number of Queries per year.

We also encourage you to submit articles of genealogical interest such as a short story about an ancestor or the ups and downs of your research activities.

The deadline for submission is the monthly meeting prior to the next news letter. Please send your items, either on paper, on diskette or by email, to the Scan Editor.
