One of the major accomplishments of the Simcoe County Branch is the Settlers Database (formerly the Settlers Surname Index Project). This is an ongoing project by many volunteers that has provided an online index of settlers as recorded in a number of resources. The project initially began as a database to keep track of the Settlers Forms. This has been updated to include indexes from Pedigree Charts, Family Group Sheets, a number of cemetery transcriptions, the index for the 1861 Census transcription and most recently the Index for the 1891 Census transcription. There are now over 260,000 names in the Settlers Database.
